~THE BREAKDOWN~ Pun intended

The table below shows the breakdown on the participation rate of individual streets. Streets with low participation rates must do more to convince their neighbours of the need for security. SUAC is urging each and every resident to do their part and more. Residents who realize the need for security must convince their neighbours on the dangers of living in an unsecured neighbourhood. Time is running out ~ please rise from the bed of ignorance to the reality of today’s cruel world…

The numbers above are as of December 12th, 2010. A total of 206 residents have chosen to participate out of a total 626. Streets with no reps or lacking reps account for 149 homes. Based on previous statistics and assuming a generous participation rate of 50%, we will have a grand total of 281 homes participating. This will represent an overall participation rate of 45%. Sad but true…..

  1. We had been having trouble for few months with our neighbours dog. My neighbour nosy dog that bark from morning time (around 7am) till after midnight (12:30am to 2am)!!!
The dog owners are so inconsiderate and rude for allowing the dogs to keep us (me and the kids) awake. I know that they have to hear their dog too!!!
I have not gotten any good sleep..
Anyway, the dog barks when no one is even around, and barking when see the owners or us...
If the dog is so sensitiveness to others, pls keep in the cage lah!! God!!

Why the owners dunno the dogs that bark all the time are usually not "happy dogs", feels lonely or go for pets/grooming shop for training/exercise etcs....
I have not talked to the neighbour and I don't want too.
can anyone help? any hotline to complaint?thanks!!

I had a meeting with the police today on another matter and subsequently brought up your issue to them. They advised me that such issues ie; irresponsible dog owners, come under the jurisdiction of MBPJ. The hotline numbers are as follows - 03-7966-2020 or 03-7956-3544. I symphatize with your situation and hope that MBPJ will assist you.

  4. just maybe we may set the monthly rate @ rm50. At Start of Jan 2011, new participant who wish to join should be at higher rate of RM60 (or more) while the the existing participant continues on rm50.

when we have proven to the rest that we are good they will want to join.

  5. Hello, I am from 5/8, and there are a few of us from this street who are contributing to the security services and have been doing so since the beginning. But when I read the breakdown on the ppl contributing, i noticed that in 5/8 there were zero contributors!!!! is this updated?? cos its obviously not the true representation.

    Thanks

    Hi Roopy,
You are correct. If you read the comments section across 5/8 on the table, you'll see the remark which states ~ 'no street rep'. The contributions from the past were paid to the security company. The contributions referred to in this table refers to funds collected for our new system. Our committee members will be hitting your street to identify a street rep and collection for November and December will begin. I truly hope you will support our new committee and all the plans we have in place to make Seri Utama a safer place for all.

We have received many suggestions to increase the monthly fee to RM50. We have also signed up new residents because they feel that RM40 is more reasonable. Mathematically, if we increase it to RM50 and even if a few decide that they will continue to participate, our net collections will be lower. Just a quick mathematical note for you to ponder ~ IF every resident decided to pay (phase 2,3 &4) and be part of a 1Seri Utama, each house will only need to pay RM25 for a top notch security system!!!

  11. I wonder the lack of participation to the security of our neighborhood has anything to do with the ability of certain residents who find it hard to understand fliers written in English language..Perhaps we should consider entertaining such residents with other languages like Malay, Chinese and Tamil.Frankly, I have come across many residents who could not understand English, especially the elderly..Hence, in the effort to gain more positive response and active participation of the residents here..it is important to reach out to the residents in the language they understand or their mother tongue ..Thanks! Let's work for 1 Seri Utama

  12. Hi..We just couldn't blame certain residents who are actually just renting the place here. They would prefer the responsibility of security to be solely held by the landlord. Hence..these residents would never pay no matter what and no matter how we try to persuade them to do so. We have to look into this!

With regards to distributing circulars in different languages ~ great idea. I need to come up with a solution that is cost effective.

With regards to rentals ~ a burglar doesn't differentiate between a tenant and a owner occupied home. It is in the tenants best interest to pay for the security. After all, in case of a burglary in one of the rented homes, it is the tenant that will suffer the greatest loss.

  14. I just read the latest circular from SUAC 'The Final Call', and am saddened that despite the best effort from SUAC, the majority of residents seem indifferent to the security situation of their neighbourhood, the consequence being the potential demise of the present security project.

I really hope the participation rate picks up to enable the security set-up to continue.

I for one would not mind paying more for the time being to sustain the present security set-up until such time when the participation rate improve. I recall when we first had the security set-up a few years back, we paid RM100 monthly to enable the fledging project to pick up.

I believe there are contributing members that would not want to see the demise of our security set-up, and may not hesitate to pay more for the time for its sustenance.

  15. Sigh! It's really sad to see how we have evolved. The more we move with the times, the more we pay for everything and yet not get what we really need.

Things go up in price, quality of goods/services go down. Taxes we still pay and on top of that we get more taxes in varied forms, tolls etc.

Our education system, police security, medical facilities are soooo bad that the citizens have resorted to have gated environments, more and more private hospitals for better and speedier service and home/private schooling which should be the undisputed right of the rakyat and yet we lobby so hard and ask of everything to be outsourced.

The ultimate question is, do you really trust the people you outsource to? Could they be the weak link to our security in the neighborhood? We pay them to take notice of each homes/residents patterns etc. Do we really know what we're doing?

I remember once upon a time, when we used to travel on toll free roads. Now every other road has a toll booth but does that expedite traffic or is it just as jam at every entry & exit point.

Is this really to help the economy? Let's just move the money around.... Similiarly with gated communities, is it possible that we're just keeping up with the Jones's or are we so delusional that we take gated communities now as a redundant form of false security.

Isn't it about time that we put a stop to commercialization? Let the right authorities take accountability of what we're paying them to do. Each family should be responsible for the safety of their own premise.

Isn't it getting absurd that you pay for the property, then you pay your cukai tanah, service your loan interest, take an insurance on your property and the valuables in your premise etc. And now pay for security which cannot even assure you so that you need not take on insurance for your valuables. Total absurdity.

And when you really do tell the police, what can they really do? Or to be more precise, what do you really expect when you call for them?

Setting the right culture is more important than just simply following a trend i.e. gated communities. So what if we have one, I have yet to see one such gated community that no misfortune or disaster has struck.

Just simplify our lives as life is short and quit complicating things.

Well written...just so there is no confusion ~ Are you suggesting that we abandon all security efforts and just live our short lives and care for our own premises and belongings?

  18. Despite the security effort initiated by SUAC..we still see chains of break-ins cases. Why is this still happening??
    1) Is our patrol officer not doing their job?
    2) Could this be an inside job?
    3) Is out patrol officer reliable?
    4) Is RM 40 no guarantee for safety? Then what is the point of paying?
    5) How could the break-ins happened within such a short span of time from 1pm to 4.30pm on 4th Jan? How did the burglar in Toyota Harrier know that those houses have no alarm system and nobody was at home at that time? It would surely take sometime to figure!! What happened to the patrol officer when the Toyota Harrier was roaming all over the streets of our neighborhood?? Unless someone has informed them beforehand!! Could it be an inside job?? Those patrol officer could be your worse fear!Beware!

  19. To the committee members:

Good day to all of you. First, I like to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate all of u for your hard and countless effort to "upgrade" our township and became an approved residential association.

With this status, it meant seri utama will become one of the pioneer township in KD to have obtained such status, looking forward we may be able to see further improvements such as security and harmony living-hood.

However, to my notice and own experiences, I am very sure that this probably not my own experiences but probably faced by other neighbour-hood too that we might see lot of home-pets running around without owner "guidance" to purge at our garden without proper attention, knowing that this pose lot of hygenic issues and also personal irritation, particularly for those who not only love to have good security, but also a reasonably clean township.

Imagine if outsiders or even those like to have evening or morning walks at our pathway or garden parks, we would see "doggies/ketty shits" lying around that we see walkers walking avoiding those "traps" or "mines".

Worst, we see owners that bring out their pets morning/evening exercises, ignoring what their pets have done damages to our gardens, being made their undue consideration and ignorance to pee or purge at neighbours' outside gardens knowing that the neighbour owners are also watching them!!! They may think "who cares", let the rain wash them away. Or this is bio-natural cycle as though we live in the jungle.

I personally requested or urge the honorable committee members to insert this concern on the forthcoming circulars, hopefully, they would be more understanding and please be more environmental friendly. NOT that difficulty to bring their own plastic bag or even newspapers to "bungkus" that into dustbin.

Sometimes, I wonder these neighbours have their own home education to educate their pets into where can do it, otherwise, do it in their own home toilets, making more sense since they are less-hardworking people around...

Thks for your kind attention, it has been really annoying but to us, we just can only "shake" our head whenever we see such incidents.

    Your neighbour-hood.

  20. I think the letter to the Police is fine. But you also must know that there may be no post of Sub-Insp in Kota Damansara. The Police apportion ranks according to locality, area, population, etc. And who knows the relacement is also good. Never conclude the unknown. It is bad ying yang!!
