PARANG ATTACK ON OUR GUARD

In a recent incident, the car in the video attempted to trick our guard into allowing them to enter our taman. They did manage to slash our guard with the parang but fortunately there was no serious injury. Such incidences are common in other tamans. In another recent incident, a guard was murdered in section 6 during a robbery similar to one seen in this video. SUAC has decided to place two guards at post 2 effective immediately.

  1. God bless the guard who fought back..

As part of the neighborhood, may I know how does the security plan works? I experience tighter security implied at post 1 rather than post 2 - By saying that, I have personally experienced no security check several times at post 2, which is still considered dangerous no matter how tight the security check at post 1 is because post 2 can lead to others streets within the taman such as 5/5, 5/6 or 5/7 which are all very near to post 1.

It would be good if we have a place nearby the guardhouse to conduct thorough check (without blocking the incoming cars from the main street? Perhaps we can clear up and block the short stretch of street next to guard house in order to achieve that? That can at least cater 1 - 2 cars' check I believe. :)

    1. Our security system is as follows:

Post 2 - valid sticker entrance only. Cars without stickers will be denied entry except in extenuating circumstances.

Post 1 - all cars are permitted entry. Cars without stickers are stopped and asked for their exact destination. Such cars are then tailed by our patrolling guards. Patrolling guards then radio back to the sentry to confirm the said location.

We previously tried using the space after the guardhouse to check vehicles. This resulted in cars speeding off.

Because we were able to capture the parang incident in its entirety on our CCTV, we decided to post it on our blog. There have been numerous scary incidences lately that has caused us concern. SUAC is in a dilemma. Should we publicize all the happenings which will probably scare the daylights out of some of our residents or just deal with the issues while allowing our residents to have their peaceful nights sleep.

To make matters worse, many residents are so comfortable with our security, that they have decided to stop paying. This strains our monthly budget. This puts us in another dilemma. Should we continue this security system or dissolve SUAC as support from the residents seem to waning.

    2. Thanks for the feedback, really hope that all the residents can contribute to make the taman safer.

  2. Whenever you see Indians trying to get in. Raise the alarm first. Too many often cases like this are by Indians. Even my Indian staff insisted that it must be Indians who robbed my wife's office.

    1. Majority might be but at the end of the day the bad guys could come from different races. Guess we just have to upkeep the security parameter. :)

    2. Dude, are you fucking kidding me with that comment?!

By your rationale, why not just throw every indian in the country in jail while they await trial to prove their innocence instead of their guilt?

Your stupidity and bigotry is beyond any reasonable comprehension.

    3. WTF!!!??? are you serious?? 2012 and still such racist comments?? people like you are the one this country need to raise an alarm on and maybe even get rid off....you're cancerous.

  3. What the security guard did was highly commendable. I hope SUAC had sent the CCTV to the police. How about printing photos of the suspects in a huge bunting/banner to be placed at the entrances just like what SUAC did in the past?

I think SUAC should update us on all the incidents that had occurred so that we will be more vigilant and perhaps try to contribute suggestions to tighten security in the area or even help identify what may be lacking. SUAC should also update its members what the security team has done so as to make its residents aware of the importance of contributing to the monthly subscription. I do hope SUAC continues with good work.

  4. SUAC did pass on a copy of the CCTV footage to the police and also called the police immediately after the incident.

Most of your other comments are hopefully answered in our latest blog entry. SUAC's most immediate concern is the fact that some of our residents have become so comfortable with our security that they have decided to stop paying. This is straining our monthly budget. While we hope they will reconsider their decision, SUAC can only go on if we have sufficient monthly collections. Life may never may be same again if we are unable to convince our residents to pay their fair share or if we're unable to get sufficient numbers of volunteers to aid the committee with fund collection.

  5. Suggest that the CCTV be placed at a more strategic spot so that car no plate (even though it may be false) and faces are captured more clearly on camera

  6. Thank you for your thoughts. SUAC is awaiting the installation of a higher resolution camera at post 2.

  8. Nathan is right, we shld not make racist remarks, its not fair and you can be jailed , no ?
I think at the end of the day its our fault.
Are these guys given an equal change to prove themselves ?
By buying all the pirated dvds, hoarding properties – this has contributed to social ills, inflation etc. Don’t blame the govt on high inflation, its consumers’ fault.
There is a huge population below poverty line. Discount all figures you are reading from the media, the printers themselves don’t read papers.
Our Poor Malaysians have to struggle just to feed their families. They end up robbing etc. Now tell me who is at fault babe ?

  11. SUAC, what's the cause of the attack ? Were they charged ? Or car found without nabbing the culprits.

  12. Suggestion is to hire a few more guards and raise the fees. our guard was outnumbered, there were at least 3 of them. Thats the only to stop them from coming again. Remind KD police station to follow up with case, is this assult with intention to KILL. Is this high profile enough ?

  13. SUAC, close one Post after mid night, station 3 guards at the post. If similar incidents were to happen again, then we would need armed guards.

  14. I hope the poor guard get compensated for his phone that was stolen and for doing his job in trying to prevent the potential robbers from getting in. He was daring enough to approach, question and fight back although he ran off ( rightfully so) when the paranged assailant came after him. If we show appreciation to these guards on doing their job properly, the rest will feel more responsible and they will all work guarding our taman more diligently.

  15. Can we install a panic button that can quickly be pressed by the guard alerting the other guards as well release a loud siren (like emergency siren or tornado warning siren) which indicate danger n even residents can come out in nos and help the attacked guard n may even help capture the assailants. This is the spirit of rukun tetangga. If the panic button can be connected to the KD police, even better.

  16. I dont think thi is a robbery attempt. I think the the people in the car are just pissed off that they are not allowed to use a public road. The guards might have been rude in the way he talk to them and having a foreigner talk to you like that and being local may be the reason the get pissed.
